Automated printing of documents from your FileNet system:
SmartPrint helps meet more demanding printing requirements: specifically, those of customers who use their FileNet system to manage a variety of document formats. With SmartPrint, users can select multiple documents of any format and print them as a single job, without having to go through the timely and error-prone process of launching each application, viewing the documents and printing them individually.
SmartPrint features a print server that is capable of receiving complex print jobs (folders, mixed document types, pages within documents, query reports, etc.). It will automatically render the documents in printer-friendly format and print them accordingly. It operates in a "lights out" environment transparent to the users. It's fully configurable to work in conjunction with, or independent of, your FileNet print servers.
Capturing/printing documents to your FileNet System:
For customers who want to eliminate the practice of printing documents from one system just to scan them into the document management system, SmartPrint offers the option to capture information from any application (mainframe, ERP, CRM, reports, etc.). The users can simply "print-to-File(Net)", which inserts an electronic image of a document directly to the repository. The document is now accessible via web and can be made available to other applications.
SmartPrint provides a virtual network printer that is capable of converting data from any desktop application to standard formats like TIFF/PDF. SmartPrint automatically adds the (PDF, TIFF) "image" of the document to your FileNet library.
