A Magnetic Storage and Retrieval (MSAR) Library is analogous to FileNet's storage libraries, but uses a standard file system instead of optical platters to store documents. Magnetic Storage and Retrieval, or MSAR, is the biggest addition to Image Services in years. It offers a cost effective way to take advantage of the very latest high speed and high capacity magnetic storage technology. MSAR was created to offer other storage options to FileNet customers and because MSAR uses a standard file system, it can work with the different storage products including EMC's Symetrix, Celerra, and Clarrion.
Companies with fixed content requiring a complete life cycle management system may choose the EMC Centera storage product. For larger systems, this provides a cost effective approach that is easily scalable. The content integrity and high availability aspects of Centera provides a complimentary component to FileNet customers. The combination of FileNet Image Services and Centera provides a solution to many customers for whom an optical system does not meet operational or cost objectives improve productivity and communications among employees, customers, and business partners.
